New Grade for Fall 2023 is a national recognition for patient safety
Sherman Oaks, CA, November 8, 2023 – Sherman Oaks Hospital, a member of Healthcare Foundation, earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care.
This is the ninth time that Sherman Oaks Hospital has been awarded an “A” grade by The Leapfrog Group. The hospital has been receiving the award since 2018, a true testament of its ongoing commitment to safety and excellent care.
Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
“Earning an ‘A’ Grade means Sherman Oaks Hospital made a true commitment to put patients first,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”
“The Fall 2023 Leapfrog report shows that Sherman Oaks Hospital’s continuing to provide the best quality and safest care to our patients at both our community and the hospital,” said EM V. Garcia, Chief Executive Officer at Sherman Oaks Hospital. “The survey reflects our true commitment to patient safety across the care continuum. Our scores reflect not only our commitment and dedication to providing the best possible patient care but how we strive to do better every day.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program exclusively based on hospital prevention of medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day nationally. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually in the fall and spring.
