five_starsSherman Oaks, CA, April 30, 2021 – Sherman Oaks Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare, has earned the coveted five-star overall hospital rating by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), placing Sherman Oaks Hospital among the top nine percent of hospitals nationwide for quality patient care.

Sherman Oaks Hospital is one of only 39 hospitals in California to receive an overall five-star rating by CMS. This is the first star rating update since January 2020, a prestigious five-star rating by CMS for Sherman Oaks Hospital.

“The Five Star rating reflects the sincere commitment and long-term dedication of our doctors, nurses, staff, and hospital to the communities that we serve,” said EM V. Garcia, Administrator of Sherman Oaks Hospital. “We are honored that Sherman Oaks Hospital and our distinct part Skilled Nursing Facility (Subacute Unit) has been recognized among the best in the nation for our relentless commitment to high quality, patient-centered care.”

This overall hospital rating is based on data that is publicly reported on CMS’ Hospital Compare tool (medicare.gov/hospitalcompare). The Overall Star Rating reflects upon 50+ measures across five aspects of quality care, including: Mortality, Safety of Care, Readmission, Patient Experience, and Timely and Effective Care. The CMS rating allows consistent comparisons to each hospital’s overall performance on average compared to other hospitals in the U.S. in treating common conditions such as heart attack or pneumonia. Hospitals are given an overall rating ranging from one to five stars, with five as the highest and three as the most common score. Sherman Oaks Hospital has earned five stars and is ranked in the top six percent, according to the latest reports.

Sherman Oaks Hospital credits this achievement to its commitment to providing compassionate patient care that focuses on patient safety. “A five-star rating is a high achievement for Sherman Oaks Hospital indicates how well our hospital protects our patients from preventable errors, injuries, and infections in achieving this recognition,” Garcia added. “Our physicians follow evidence-based practices and nationally accepted guidelines that are proven to promote better patient outcomes. This can also be attributed in part to our team’s ability to recognize and meet the changing needs of our community through our specialty services and programs. This award authenticates our hospital’s mission and exceptional teamwork displayed in delivering each day on our commitment to quality, outcomes, patient safety, and clinical excellence.”
